The Indoor Master Grower will be responsible for the daily management of our indoor Cannabis growing operations. The Indoor Master Grower should have extensive knowledge of all aspects of growing Cannabis indoors under strictly controlled conditions and be able to produce high quality Cannabis from clone to harvest. The successful candidate will work with the grow team to ensure that every aspect of plant cultivation in the facility from clone to dried product is completed according to GACP guidelines and in-house quality and EHS standards.
As Indoor Master Grower you must be passionate about the industry and willing to comply with company standard operating procedures and follow the companies growing techniques. Applicants must not have any criminal convictions or arrests involving drug-related offences; it will be mandatory for applicants to undergo the relevant National Police Checks and Drug & Alcohol screening.
Applicants must be willing to relocate to Australia.
Manage all aspects of indoor Cannabis cultivation including selection and development of genetic strains and seeds, cloning, propagation, transplanting, defoliation, flushing, trimming, harvesting, drying, packaging, waste disposal and inventory management
Manage an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program
Assure water quality and nutrient solutions for all irrigation and fertigation systems are managed in compliance with company procedures
Manage production, processing and transportation of Cannabis according to GACP and company quality and EHS standards
Troubleshoot potential problems and execute correction measures
Developing cultivation plans and assigning duties to the cultivation and harvesting teams
Develop and/or maintain growing protocols and nutrient recipes
Develop and implement production plans ensuring optimal asset utilization
Communicate effectively with other department managers, supervisors and employees to ensure timely resolution of problems/ corrective actions and accomplishments of cultivation department and company objectives
Work with internal stakeholders to external experts to continuously improve quality and yield associated with cultivation practices
Create standard operating procedures in collaboration with the Quality Assurance
Ensure all cultivation and harvest facilities are maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner
Provide advanced technical guidance/training to Agricultural Engineers and other cultivation staff in the proper maintenance and care of mother plants, clones, flowering crops and drying of plants
Assist government regulators and auditors during inspections and audits of facilities
Manage safe work conditions and practices within the cultivation area according to EHS policies and procedures
Deliver training programs to develop and improve performance of the cultivation team including effective on-boarding of new employees
Lead cultivation trials
Any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time by company management
Must hold a Bachelor Degree or higher in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agronomy or related field.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Knowledge and experience with large scale commercial Cannabis cultivation
· Experience in hydroponic and soil-based horticulture
· Experience and understanding of temperature and humidity manipulation as a means of optimising growth cycles
· Direct experience with automated irrigation systems
· Experience of evaluation of plant health and diagnosing problems associated with diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies
· Practical experience/knowledge of an integrated pest management program
· Comprehensive knowledge of the Sativa, Indica and Hybrid strains of Cannabis.
· Must be able to budget and forecast crop expenses and yields
· Strong leadership and organizational skills.
· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Master Grower or similar position for a commercial licenced Cannabis producer
