Mammoth Distribution seeks a self-motivated, professional Purchasing Accountant to join our fast-growing team. To be successful in this role, you must be a detail-oriented team player who will be responsible for maintaining relationships with all of our vendors, negotiating purchasing discounts, managing general accounting activities and ensuring that all purchases are properly approved and recorded.
Identifies current and future vendors for the organization and ensures team members are consistently using approved vendors.
Establishes vendor usage protocols and ensures internal compliance across the organization.
Maintains effective relationships with vendors ensuring service fulfillment, account management, and continued favorable cost control opportunities.
Negotiates payment terms, volume discounts, and rebates with vendors.
Reviews contracts and negotiate favorable terms and updates accordingly.
Approves new vendors in accordance with organizational protocols.
Approves purchase requests.
Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
Pays vendors by monitoring invoices; verifying federal id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and/or payment discrepancies; insuring credit is received when applicable; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances; preparing checks.
Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
Maintains historical records by scanning and filing documents.
Disburses petty cash by recording entry; verifying documentation.
Ensure purchases are properly reported in the general ledger.
Seeks cost-saving opportunities through researching alternative vendors and solutions.
Performs general accounts payable activities as directed.
Takes on additional responsibilities as needed.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and/or experience with ERP solutions
General accounting experience and knowledge
Exposure and experience with similar responsibilities
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, especially Excel
Strong acumen in understanding and using a variety of technology
Ability to learn and utilize new technology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong project management and problem-solving skills
Detail oriented and able to manage multiple competing priorities
Strong negotiation skills and comfort with a continuous negotiation process
Strong track record of effective collaboration in a fast-paced, objective focused environment
Good vision and hearing
Clear speech and communication skills
Ability to work on a computer at least eight (8) hours per day
Able to lift up to 10 lbs.
$45,000 to $55,000 DOE
