urban-gro is hiring a California IPM / Pest Control Adviser.
What’s the Job?
The California IPM / Pest Control Adviser will join our thriving team of lighting and cultivation technology product specialists. You will be urban-gro’s ambassador and technical lead in California on developing customer pest management plans. Your region will cover the State of California.
Your job responsibilities will include:
>> Providing technical IPM assistance and field trainings to our large group of licensed, commercial Cannabis cultivation clients in CA.
>> Guiding them in the optimal use of organic, approved pesticides and biological products (Biocontrol solutions, products for monitoring and scouting) within the legal Cannabis arena.
>> Monitor/Stay abreast of many states evolving regulations of pesticide use on Cannabis, in order to effectively define the most appropriate technical strategy for the clients of your area to manage and control pests of Cannabis.
>> Have and maintain a pest control advisor (PCA) license
>> Give feedback of the field observations with a complete reporting of travel.
>> Organize and lead technical meetings for sales representative and customers in part to develop new bio-control strategies.
>> Create technical documents (technical sheets, presentations, posters…).
>> Represent company in occasional trade fairs, scientific symposia, workshops (on occasion)
>> Provide remote guidance to our customers in other states (NV, AZ, WA, OR, MA) and occasional travel to those states
Required Experience and Education
>> University or Technical degree in horticulture, agriculture or IPM.
>> Open, dedicated and flexible person, willing to travel (20% of the time min.) and able to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving marketplace.
>> Min. 2 years of practical experience IPM/biological control in ornamental crops, vegetables or controlled environments.
>> Good listener, capacity to analyze situations and to take decisions. Able to lead meetings, team spirit, open, positive and communicative attitude.
>> Good experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
