Cannabis Job Listings Have More Than Doubled From Last Year | Marijuana Jobs | Cannabis Jobs | Weed Jobs | 420 Careers

Weed hasn’t even been fully legalized in Canada yet, but the prospect of a nationwide legal industry is already catalyzing some serious economic activity. In particular, the emerging legal marijuana industry is already beginning to create tons of new jobs. So many, in fact, that major employment websites are now reporting huge upticks in the number of cannabis job listings.

Spike in Online Cannabis Job Listings

Indeed.com, one of the biggest and most well known online employment marketplaces, recently released new data about user activity. Interestingly, the report had a lot to say about Canada’s rapidly growing legal marijuana industry.

In particular, the site found a massive increase in the number of cannabis job listings. Similarly, Indeed.com reported equally large increases in the number of people searching for marijuana-related jobs.

As summarized by Canadian news sources, here are some of the key trends from the employer side of things:

  • From May to April of this year, there was a 50 percent increase in the number of weed-related job listings.
  • There were three times as many cannabis job listings in July 2018 as there were in July 2017.
  • 25 out of every 10,000 jobs posted to Indeed.com are now related to marijuana.

The report also said that employers searching for new employees were looking to fill a wide range of jobs. These included folks to help on the cultivation side of production.

Similarly, employers in the marijuana sector are looking for quality assurance managers, production assistants, and a variety of maintenance technicians.

Additionally, there are also a growing number of cannabis job listings for budtenders at dispensaries.

Tons of People are Looking for Weed-Related Jobs

All this new marijuana-related job activity isn’t coming only from potential employers. There is also a growing number of people going online to find weed-related jobs.

In particular, the following trends are now emerging:

  • There were four times as many searches for cannabis job listings in July 2018 as there were in July 2017.
  • In previous years, only six out of every 10,000 job searches were related to weed. Now, that number has grown to 26.

Legal Cannabis In Canada To Create More Jobs

Not surprisingly, all this activity is a direct response to Canada’s upcoming legalization of recreational weed. As of now, the government has said that legal recreational sales will begin on October 17.

Of course, legalization is expected to make a huge economic splash. Most notably, experts predict that legal weed sales in Canada will surpass $7 billion in 2019.

Similarly, the legal market is expected to create tons of new jobs. For example, in the U.S., the legal marijuana industry has already created more than 100,000 new full-time jobs. And that’s in the U.S., where legalization is still a state-by-state issue.

Many expect to see much higher numbers in Canada since weed will soon be legal throughout the entire country. Even better for employees, reports show that salaries are going up for people working in Canada’s cannabis industry.

That, combined with the most recent uptick in cannabis job listings, presents a positive outlook in the months leading up to national legalization.
